EYAA is a French-Ghanaian trio at the crossroads of Afro-diasporic and Western music, electronica, cosmic jazz and futuristic rhythms.
The project grew out of a simple, powerful idea: to recapture the primal energy of the cry. “EYAA” is the shout heard in some African spiritual traditions to drive the pastor, here Kyekyeku, into a trance.
Led by Kyekyeku’s spirit-filled voice and incantatory guitar, the trio summons the fervour of highlife, flashes of urban sound and electro-tinged Afrobeat.
More than a concert, EYAA offers a collective experience, both visceral and silky, where people come to dance, feel the vibration and share a modern trance, joyful and liberating. With Fred (drums) and Kevin (bass, synths, Ableton) as counterpoint, the band plays as a single organism: raw, fluid and full of surprises.
